October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 13, 2025

Usually, the main color around the Plate is orange, but this week, we’re wearing PINK to support Breast Cancer Awareness!

October 21 Update: We raised $382 and exceeded our goal! The company will match our money raised and we will be donating a total of $764.00 to the American Cancer Society, with a request that it be directed to the Breast Cancer Research division.

During the week of October 13th, Willington Nameplate hosted its first fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness with a raffle, pink swag, and information from national Breast Cancer research organizations that was shared with family and friends to help increase early detection and grow research to conquer this disease that is the #1 cause of cancer deaths in women¹

“When you see these statistics, you realize it will affect someone close to you at some point,” says Brett Greene, president of WNP.

For just $1, anyone can enter the raffle in hopes of winning a fold-up camping chair, various coffee tumblers, coolers, gift cards, and even a chance to play DJ for a Day and choose the music that’s piped in all around the plant.

The initial goal was $300 because leadership recognized that today’s economy is already taking a significant amount of “extra” money out of people’s pockets. But even on Day 1, people have been generous, buying $5 and even $20 worth of tickets because the cause speaks to them personally.

Through social media, we are informing people that our company culture supports causes that affect our communities. With 50% of our workforce at risk, this initiative is quickly becoming a meaningful endeavor.
