Ink is surprisingly sensitive, and storing it in a cool, climate-controlled space helps preserve its chemistry, consistency, and performance. Here’s why that matters:
Temperature affects viscosity
High heat can thin out the ink, causing it to bleed or spread too easily. Cold temperatures can thicken it, leading to clogging or uneven application. A stable, moderate climate keeps the ink flowing just right.
Humidity invites trouble
Too much moisture in the air can lead to mold growth, ink separation, or contamination. Too little humidity can dry out the ink prematurely, especially in open containers or cartridges.
Precision demands consistency
For screen printing — especially in aerospace, automotive, and OEM applications — ink must deliver consistent opacity, adhesion, and durability. Climate fluctuations can compromise these properties, leading to rework or failed compliance tests.
Shelf life matters
Proper storage extends the usable life of ink, reducing waste and ensuring that every batch performs to spec. That’s especially important when dealing with specialty inks or custom formulations.
