File Specifications

February 26, 2020

The following guidelines below ensure print quality. Willington Nameplate requests that blueprints and production files are submitted as vector files when possible.

VECTOR (preferred format) Vector files remain editable so that they can be opened with Adobe Illustrator and any text or elements can be manipulated. Vector files create art that is clean, camera ready, and can be scaled infinitely, without any loss of quality or fidelity.

Primary accepted vector file formats are AI, EPS, and PDF with vector information.

PIXEL (may incur an additional art charge for vector creation) The following types of files may need to be recreated as a vector files:

File formats such as JPG, PNG, PSD, TIFF and BMP are created with pixels and based on resolution. For the most part these are not scalable or editable. When submitting pixel based files for production, please use a resolution of 300 dpi or higher. If submitting Adobe Photoshop files (PSD), please send the native working file (original file it was created in) and not a flattened image.

Microsoft Office Suite, DWG, and DXF are not ready for production and will need to be created in house before printing. Please submit a pdf with these type of files so that we can be sure the fonts and layout are correct.

If a company logo is needed for a part, please submit a vector file or the logo saved with the highest resolution as well as any Branding Guidelines, if available, that go with it.
