Both a Science and an Art
The Science
There are many factors to consider when ordering a custom nameplate or label. The first is “where will this nameplate or label be applied?”
That factor alone is enough to eliminate several options for fabrication. Consider the lifespan of your parts: will they be installed indoors or outdoors. The type of environmental factors will determine which process offers the longest lifespan. If your nameplate will be used in extreme conditions and must last up to 20 years, Metalphoto® is your best bet. Alternately, if durability is not a priority or a low priority, Flexographic printing with a protective covering will do the trick. Each of the processes have their correlated material types: aluminum, stainless steel, brass, photosensitive aluminum, polycarbonates (Lexan) and various roll materials ranging from paper to vinyl and foils.
In addition to the durability factors, there are also other considerations including volume, serialization, outer coating, fastening, and aesthetics.
We can print, emboss or engrave serial numbers through custom screen-printed nameplates and labels, thermal transfer, MetalPhoto®, chemical etch, or laser (CNC).
The Art
Where it becomes an art is when the determining factors are related to branding or aesthetics. We have the capability to make any ink color for screen printing. For chemical etch printing, we use enamel paint and can match Pantone®, Federal Standard or order custom colors. When the design needs to pop, the best process can be screen-printed metal or Lexan or screen-printed roll labels.
All of these considerations can be discussed at the time of your order with our expert Customer Service Representatives. They will guide you through the entire process to give you the best result.
