About Willington Nameplate

Looking to the Future

Over the course of 60 years, Willington Nameplate has adapted and evolved into a successful, thriving nameplate manufacturer in spite of its rural location and changes in economics and technology. The tenacious spirit on which the company was founded, drives it today under the coaching of Brett Greene and his leadership team consisting of Glenn Beauregard (Finance Leader), Natasha Watson (Business Development and Customer Service Leader), Jose Morales, Jr. (Operations Leader), Dave Daly (Quality Leader) and Kitty Ricci, (Human Resources Leader).  Together, they have brought Willington Nameplate into its next phase, one where the company maintains an edge, competitively, through the implementation of cybersecurity protocols established by the Department of Defense. Over the past several years, extensive cybersecurity improvements were implemented and as of April 2025, WNP have achieved a 90 SPRS (Supplier Performance Risk System) score positioning us for Level 2 Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance by September 2025.

Leadership Style

Willington Nameplate embraces the manufacturing method of Lean Manufacturing, derived from the Japanese operational model implemented in the post-war 1950s and 1960s by Toyota. Lean principles focus on efficiency, continuous improvement and doing more with less. The focus is on providing value to the customer. Employees are trained extensively, not only on their primary work operations, but also in other departments so that they can easily assist wherever they’re needed. Leadership is also committed to supporting a positive, engaging company culture that is based on transparency, communication and team-building activities and events.

An Effortless Experience

Our company’s production motto is to provide “an effortless experience” where the customer experiences clear communication within one day and orders are delivered on- time. When challenges arise, customers are contacted immediately with an efficient resolution. This motto is woven throughout all departments from sales to delivery. Daily KPIs share tracked metrics to inform employees on how the company is faring in terms of sales, costs and goal attainment.

Recruiting and Retaining

New employees are recruited based not only on skill, but also on whether their values complement the company’s concepts of a strong work ethic and growth mindset.

When recruiting, we are looking for individuals that are eager to learn and want to work hard for a great team. We provide a robust onboarding experience for all employees, introducing them to all departments in the company, from pre-press to shipping. During this time, new employees will visit each department and learn how the machines and processes we use to make custom nameplate and label products operate in terms of safety, standard work (directions) and the quality inspections that occur along the way.

In 2023, the company became an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) and employees began to have a financial stake in the company’s success as a retirement benefit.
Being an ESOP is just one of the comprehensive benefits offered to employees. Full medical, dental and vision benefits as well as 401K plans are offered to employees after a 90-day probationary period. Additionally, many team-building events and outreach efforts combine to create an atmosphere of giving back. From time to time, leadership will cook and serve breakfast to the employees, or the environmental team will initiate a community volunteer day.

Empowering Employees to Lead

Our Operation Leader, Jose Morales, Jr.  is on the factory floor throughout the day and is available to answer questions on the spot so that solutions can be implemented quickly. However, it is expected that department leads will manage small issues with their team as they have been trained to do. This kind of autonomy empowers workers to make decisions and manage their resources for themselves, which fosters a culture of trust allowing leadership to focus on broader strategic initiatives. Opportunity for additional learning is provided throughout the year in lean concepts as well as related skills for new and seasoned employees.

Legacy Employees

As a testament to the strong company culture and positive work environment, Willington Nameplate has a number of legacy employees who have been with the company for nearly 40 years! It was always the vision of founder, Marcel Geopfert that the company be a place that made everyone feel like a valued member of the team in and out of the office. Today’s leaders are maintaining this and other founding tenets of transparency, integrity and quality in every aspect of the business.

Sustainability

All manufacturers produce waste of some kind. What you do with that waste is what matters. At Willington Nameplate we have been vigorously tracking our waste: paper, water, greenhouse gases, metals and even food scraps! In 2024 we began tracking our environmental impact and will provide updates regularly. To learn more about our Sustainability efforts click here.

In addition, we have made great strides in choosing environmentally friendly solutions, chemicals, processes and materials to prevent additional impact on the environment. One major change was to switch to a soy-based solution in our relief paint processes reducing volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions. Throughout the factory you will also find the appropriate recycling and waste repositories appropriate to each station’s output. Our Health, Safety & Environmental lead, Bill Callahan is responsible for maintaining all environmental and safety protocols as well as reporting regularly to oversight organizations locally and nationally.
