Quality Leader

Reports to: President

Summary: Responsible for all facets of the Quality Assurance department as well as all formal technical, inspection documentation. This position is part of the executive leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To maintain the highest quality standards and the right to stop production of any job if those quality standards are not met
  • Willing to assist in any and all areas within the company on an “as needed” basis
  • Direct reports include Quality Engineer, Quality Technician and Sr. QC Inspector
  • Works with customers and customer service on internal and external problems
  • Oversees the non-conformance process which is executed by QE
  • Define, develop and deploy Quality assurance strategy
  • Provides education and training for all employees in regards to the quality system
  • Identifies and tracks key quality metrics
  • Coordinates the yearly review process for QA associates
  • Provides root cause and corrective action training for employees
  • Key point of contact for all external quality/system audits
  • Manages and directs the activities of the internal audit team
  • Research and implement changes to reduce non-conformances
  • Owns the change control board process and schedules
  • Justify capital purchases related to the quality department
  • Drive continuous improvement activities and standardize core processes
  • Review customer quality manuals and document key requirements
  • Works with purchasing to manage supply chain approvals
  • Key member of the contract review team
  • Oversee the DSQR or other customer directed inspection programs
  • Oversee FAI and PPAP approval process including re-submissions
  • Oversee all quality certification processes

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to engage employees
  • Communicates effectively both written and verbally
  • Understands ISO quality systems (including AS9100 and IATF 16949)
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize work requirements
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing capabilities
  • Lean certification from accredited institution

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
