Setup Operator

Reports to: Department Lead

Summary: Responsible for setting up all compound and progressive tooling on the punch presses

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate will

  • Maintain the highest quality standards and the right to stop production of any job if those quality standards are not met
  • Assist in any areas within the company on an “as needed” basis
  • Know all aspects of punch press operations
  • Set up and run all punch presses and all ancillary equipment on the presses
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on press equipment
  • Configure proper guarding on all equipment
  • Be responsible for validating the first piece for each run
  • Troubleshoot mis-hits and other quality deviations

Level 1 Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Good blueprint comprehension
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Inspection tool comprehension for each job

Level 2 Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. (Includes all qualifications from previous level)

  • Advanced blueprint comprehension
  • Programs and efficiently operates all equipment, including Spartanic machines
  • Trains others in punch press operations
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with all machines
  • Can conduct minor repairs or engage outside resources for additional support

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED
  • Good basic math skills
  • Prior experience with machine setup preferred

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Grade level: Hourly Position             Hours per week: 40
