Surface Technician

Reports to: Department Lead

Summary: Responsible for the handling of metal sheets through a variety of processes such as brushing, roller-coating and chemical treating/cleaning

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To maintain the highest quality standards and the right to stop production of any job if those quality standards are not met
  • Willing to assist in any and all areas within the company on an “as needed” basis
  • Load pre-painted sheets into a Naptha tank
  • Scrape metal sheets of excess paint
  • Clean and prep metal sheets for their next operation
  • Pre-brush and finish brush metal sheets as required
  • Support resource for paint and etch operations
  • Ability to prioritize the departments workload
  • Understanding of all chemicals used in the department and their safe handling

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Read and comprehend blueprints
  • Communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Solid organizational skills


  • High School diploma, GED
  • Entry level position requiring no previous experience

Physical Demands (reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties):

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to pass a breathing test and be fitted for a respirator
  • Long periods of time standing
