How to Reduce Lead Times: A Few Simple Guidelines

March 24, 2025

To reduce lead times, customers are asked to provide important information at the onset of their orders by following some simple guidelines.

PURCHASE ORDER REQUIREMENTS

  • a purchase order clearly stating the part number and revision
  • a purchase order that reflects current pricing from a quote given within the last 90 days, with applicable fees included
  • for UID/Serialized parts: the specific unique identification information and serial number range
  • required written-deviation approvals at the time of order, if applicable. This requirement will be noted on the formal estimate.

QUOTE REQUIREMENTS

To provide a quote for an order, we must have the following information:

A legible blueprint with corresponding specifications

  • finish specification or coating needed
  • material and alloy of the base part (material hardness, if applicable)
  • thickness and tolerance requirements
  • size and dimensions of the part
  • adhesive requirements, if applicable
  • for colors other than black or white, please specify the Pantone PMS color

Quality clauses associated with the quote or contacts/locations where they can be obtained:

  • first article inspection/PPAP requirements
  • any part serialization requirements/variable data
